Common Essential Oil Blends for Humans
It’s October! And around here, that usually means the start of cold and flu season. Most people run right for the DayQuil, and we do too sometimes. But to start, I usually try to incorporate essential oils into our routine to combat the viral season.

There are a few oils that we always have on hand. It’s worth mentioning that there are multiple different companies that sell essential oils. Do your research to make sure you’re getting high quality essential oils. Just because they’re “cheap” doesn’t mean they’re good quality. I stick with 3 different companies. While their oils are a bit more expensive, I know that they’ve been treated with the highest care and are beneficial to our lives. Young Living, doTerra, and Revive are my go-to’s!

Common Essential Oil Blends for Humans

What are Essential Oils?

An essential oil is the aromatic liquid that is within many flowers, plants, trees, roots, shrubs and seeds that is extracted through steam distillation. They are highly concentrated and need to be used properly.

Several essential oils have antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. If you plan on using essential oils, it’s good to have some basic knowledge about them, their properties and uses, and the correct amount to use. That’s why I love Strong Animals Chicken Essentials for my flock! They’ve taken the guesswork out for me and have formulated them perfectly for easy use.

Now, back to us humans!

As I mentioned above, I always have a few oils on hand. Peppermint, lemon and lavender are the single oils I always have. I have an entire drawer full, but I feel like we go through these three pretty quick.

Essential Oil Blends I Like

Let’s talk about essential oil blends. What are they? They are a blend of essential oils into one great product!

Our top blend at home is by far “Thieves” from Young Living. “Thieves® essential oil is a legendary blend of purifying essential oils. Clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary, known for immune support and cleansing properties when taken internally and refreshing breathing experiences aromatically and topically.”

We use this blend all the time for almost everything…cleaning, illness, preventative health and diffusing for the aromatherapy benefits. It’s our family favorite!

Another blend I like to have on hand is PanAway. “PanAway® essential oil blend is a combination of clove, helichrysum, peppermint and wintergreen, and creates a cooling and soothing sensation when applied to fatigued muscles after physical activity. A must-have for every home.”

PanAway has been great for muscle fatigue and headaches for our family. It feels cool and soothing and does the trick most of the time!

Lastly, I’m going to talk about Purification. “Purification® essential oil blend is a combination of citronella, lavandin, lemongrass, myrtle, rosemary and tea tree that is formulated for diffusing to neutralize and cleanse your home and work environment. It is also soothing to your skin for everyday irritations.”

I don’t necessarily love the smell of the Purification blend; however, it really does the trick! It really gets rid of nasty smells quickly. But my favorite use? It takes the itch and pain out of bug bites almost immediately!

These three blends are always part of my essential oil stash! These specific blends are from Young Living Essential Oils, but variations are available at doTerra and Revive. I’m sure there are other really good oil companies out there, but these are the three companies that I know, have used and trust!

If you’re just starting out with essential oils, I encourage you to order a starter kit from a company you trust. They usually provide a pretty great selection and it’s a great place to start!

Until next time,
